Biography
Gabriele Volpato was born in Chieri, near Turin, on 1 June 1996. At two and a half his parents, Alberto and Antonella, noticed how skilfully he handled and parked electric toy cars. They understood at once that the talent was worth nurturing, and by the age of seven he was already at home in a kart.
Unlike most drivers, Gabriele is at his best when the rain floods the circuit — so much so that he earned the nickname “the wizard of rain”. It is precisely in the wet that some of his most spectacular wins have come.
His racing career began officially in 2005, in the 60cc mini kart class. It took just three races to take his first win, at Busca in the regional championship. In 2016 he qualified as a federal regional circuit-driving instructor, and began teaching alongside racing.
